Ntsiki Biyela - First Black Female Winemaker in South Africa at Tango Tuesday, October 16th, 6 - 8 pm
We are so excited and honored with this tasting we can't stand it! How cool is it to have the first black female winemaker from South Africa here in San Diego! We will be tasting 5 wines and 1 sparkling wine all for $10. Ntsiki is the resident winemaker at Stellekaya Winery in South Africa and has a particular passion for red wines. We will be tasting: Stellekaya Cabernet Sauvignon 2003, Cape Cross Blend (Merlot, Cab, Pinotage) and the Merlot 2002. Previous to Stellekaya Ms. Biyela was assistant winemaker at Delheim Wines and we will be tasting the wines she started out with as well!
Ntsiki was born in rural northern KwaZulu-Natal in a village called KwaVuthela, she was raised by her grandmother, Bathabile Sibiya. Biyela was recruited to study viticulture and oenology at the University of Stellenbosch and was awarded a full scholarship by South African Airways. Want to know more? I do. See you at Tango Tuesday!
